Why should you vote for me to be your farmer elected Wheat Board director for District 10?
There are three main reasons:
- I believe first and foremost that your grain belongs to you. Not to your neighbors, not to the CWB, and certainly not to the government.
- Secondly, by giving you back the right to sell your own grain you will make more money for your farm and your family.
- Thirdly, we have never been closer to achieving marketing choice in Western Canada than right now. We have a government in Ottawa who is willing to make it happen if there are enough pro-choice directors around the CWB board table. At present there are seven pro-choice and eight anti-choice directors. My voice at the table could easily be the one to tip the balance in favour of choice and marketing freedom for prairie farmers.
If elected I promise to never forget that it is your grain and will do my utmost to turn the Canadian Wheat board into a voluntary organization that you can either choose to do business with or not . I believe that is a choice that is best left in the hands of individual producers such as yourself.
For me it’s a matter of principle and profit. The first is the cause, the second the effect. The philosophy which underpins today’s CWB monopoly have had a long term negative effect on the bottom line of Western Canadian farmers. Price comparisons have shown this time and time again. As it stands, the role of redistributing farmers income is more important to the current board of directors than economic growth.
It’s time for a new set of values which will lead to better results. It’s time for a change. It’s time farmers had a real choice when it comes to marketing their wheat and barley.
If you vote for me, I will give you that choice.
